Hexagonal body Model D

A transitional model.

The Model D was the changeover camera from the original body casting with three flat surfaces at each end, to the new one with fully rounded ends. All subsequent Mirandas in the basic series used this shape, right through to the RE II.  Early model D's can be found with the older body casting. Typical serial numbers are in the range between 621xxx and 624xxx.

Standard lens on the D was a 50/2.8 preset type, but the optional fully automatic 50/1.9 with PAD (Pressure Automatic Diaphragm) was often sold in the US.

This particular camera sports a PAD 35mm f2.8 lens, more commonly seen on the later DR cameras.

Here's two more illustrations for this same camera.

In my experience, the taller gearing on the D and DR models needs to be treated carefully when the camera is older and the lubricants have become dried out.
